24 Holiday Marketing Ideas to Get Happy About

‘Tis the season for giving and receiving. This year we’re giving away a couple handfuls of holiday marketing ideas to help your small business grow.

What do we have up our sleeve? Well, we’ve done our own homework and pinpointed some great holiday marketing ideas, strategies and tips that will help you to solidify relationships with your customers and clients. Not only that, but these marketing tips will boost your bottom line during the busy holiday season.

As hectic as this time of year can be, there is little room for error when it comes to holiday marketing. You have limited time to break through all the noise and clutter, and your competition is strong. Here are a few holiday marketing ideas to think about (and maybe even smile about). Try them, tweak them, combine them with other activities – enjoy them!

4 Holiday Marketing Ideas for Small Businesses

  1. Stack of books against a holiday background.Rubber stamp everything sent out of your office. Think of a catchy tagline that relates your company to the holidays and rubber stamp it on all of your outgoing mail, bills, and checks.
  2. Send cards when most people don’t. Don’t be afraid to get creative and have fun with your holiday cards or e-cards. Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve aren’t traditional card-sending holidays, so try sending company cards then. This approach can help you stand out and break through the noise (since there won’t be as much).
  3. Make charitable donations in place of traditional gifts. Give a monetary donation, donate your time, volunteer at a food shelter, walk for a cause, donate books to your community library, visit children in a hospital… whatever you do, do it from the heart, and make sure it’s something your whole team can get excited about. Let your clients know about it, too. Instead of spending money or time sending gift baskets to your clients, send them a card letting them know you’ll be donating to a cause this year. Include a picture of your team collecting books or dropping off care packages to children – a little “warm and fuzzy” goes a long way! Writing a press release about it wouldn’t hurt, either.
4. Run Facebook Contests. Contests are a fantastic way to create some buzz around your brand, but you first need to decide what type of contest will work for your goals and your audience. You can run a sweepstakes, essay, photo or video contest on Facebook. A sweepstakes contest requires the least effort on the part of your fans, so this may be the best bet. When you choose a third-party app to run your contest (because Facebook has rules, y’know), make sure it provides social sharing options and referral incentives (so if they send a link to their friends to enter, they get entered again too).
