Our Culture

Slippers allowed here!

Everybody has had that job. You know, the job where you MUST wear closed-toes shoes, where the only thing you know about your boss is their e-mail address… the job where you spend less time actually working and more time staring at the clock, waiting for the day to be done. Laura, the President and founder of Vision Advertising, had a similar job and (surprise, surprise) she hated it… thus the reasoning behind the laidback, ‘down-to-earth’ culture found here.

At Vision Advertising, we don’t do the whole Casual Friday thing; we do the ‘Every Day Casual’  thing. Let’s just say that, on an average day, you’re more likely to see  jeans and tee-shirts than closed-toed shoes and ties.   You might even catch one or all of us in slippers.  When we’re at our desks, who cares what’s on our feet?  We do!  However, the one exception to this super laid-back environment is that when we meet with clients, OF COURSE we dress up, and we look sharp!

You’re not going to get into trouble for saying what’s on your mind or expressing your opinion. In fact, it’s expected.  You’re paid to have a brain, and bring your “A” game to the team, even if you don’t agree.  We can’t be awesome if we’re all a bunch of yes-men.  Teach us something new, disagree, bring new ideas to the table – we encourage it all.

Do we have fun?  Oh absolutely.  It’s not abnormal to hear giggles, YouTube videos, and the occasional barking of our Chief Happiness and Security Officer.  A sense of humor is required to work here.

As for the physical space, cubicles and any other forms of isolation are taboo; we all share big spaces, designed specifically to promote interactivity and collaboration within the company. Even the President chooses to share the office with the rest of the team, rather than being walled off in her own area.

Sound like somewhere you’d be interested in working? Be ready to be interviewed not only by Laura, but the whole team. We think it’s important that you’re not only adequately suited for the position but that you get along with all of us. Not only are we looking for a hard-working colleague; we’re looking for a long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationship with another human being.

Don’t get us wrong- we’re not trying to pride ourselves on “how different” we are from all the other companies. Nowadays, that’s so cliché. We just want our job to be the highlight of our day. And lucky for us, it is!
